DCCF Works to Meet Benedum Foundation Challenge

 In March of 2008, the Doddridge County Community Foundation (DCCF) was awarded a $15,000 challenge grant from the Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation. This challenge grant will seed a new general purpose scholarship fund for Doddridge County students.

In order to successfully complete this challenge, the Board of DCCF must raise $15,000 from donors who care about Doddridge County students. The deadline for this challenge is September 30^th, 2009. Once the $15,000 goal is met, the Benedum Foundation will match that amount with $5,000. The $5,000 will be immediately awarded as scholarships in 2010.

 It is vital to the success of this challenge and to the establishment of the new scholarship fund that the $15,000 goal be met. If this goal is not met, the matching funds from the Benedum Foundation will not be received, and DCCF will not be able to award $5,000 more in scholarship funds. The generosity of Doddridge County citizens will help realize the dream of a new scholarship fund to help Doddridge County students.

 DCCF is an affiliate of the Parkersburg Area Community Foundation (PACF), which was established in 1963, and in all, serves ten counties in West Virginia and one county in Ohio. DCCF was established as an affiliate of PACF in 2000. DCCF was established by local citizens in order to build permanent funds that will support charitable causes in Doddridge County forever.

 DCCF has an Advisory Board made up of volunteers who live and/or work in the county, and who work to build the visibility and the assets of the Foundation. The current DCCF Advisory Board includes Tom Whaling, Chair; Helen Griffith, Vice Chair; Earl Daugherty, Tara Bee, Sylvia Leggett, Sheryl Webb, Doug Gelhaar, Hazel Wysong, Melissa Hinterer and Sandy White.
